I have made a decision. I’m tired of writing about myself and my stories.  I am tired of talking about my feelings. It’s really starting to bore me.

I want to write about something that interests me immensely. I want to write about porn. I don’t want to write porn — well, maybe now and then.

I want to analyze the porn. I want to talk about the elements that make up a scene. The positions,  the images, the things the actors do – to themselves and each other – are all choices made by the porn artist. I want to understand those artistic choices.

Yes, I want to argue that pornography is an art. I want to prove it by analyzing the craft. What makes for good porn? What makes a bad one? Are there different genres? Can porn be funny? Some porn is disturbing. What does that say about us? What does porn say about our unconscious desires?

Kinsey spoke of what people actually practiced. He created real-life sexual portraits. Porn represents something else. Porn is our wish fulfilling dream. Understanding porn is vital to understanding human beings. I intend to prove that.  Subscribe to this blog. See if I can do it.
