It’s understandable, considering what you’ve been through. That was how Ani always replied.

I was always apologizing. It’s one of my depression habits.  I always apologize when people get quiet. If they fall silent after I say something, I assume they’re angry.

They are deciding if they want to attack me or just say fuck it and leave.

I qualify.  I yield. Sometimes, I start crying.

I’m sorry.  That’s just how I feel. I have depression. I can’t help my feelings, sometimes.

Ani understood. She soothed me.
