Noises and voices and echoed bad music that’s almost inaudible–look out! That woman is coming too fast. She’ll hit me. Prepare! Brace all my muscles for the punch, but wait–behind me– two voices arguing. I know that tone. The stern snap of aggravation in his voice–that’s the sound of the second before violence. Look out mom! I can’t stop him. They’re all around me. Their eyes are dead. His eyes were so dead. He hated me and I’ll never know why. I’m lost. Please help me. Come find me. I’m surrounded. I’m in so much trouble. I’m crying. I’m all alone in the grocery store.
