  1. Tom Hardie’s poetry collapses in on itself. He is writing postmodern American haiku, zen koans that require the reader’s absolute participation in the creation of meaning. Every single word is striving to communicate. Hardie is hanging on by a fraying rope. The end of the rope is tied into a noose. He can choose to end his suffering at any moment. He desperately wants to be known. He is failing. He needs your help. The noose is wooing him, daily. Hardie is a difficult teacher.
